We are seeking an experienced and strategic
Director of Laboratory to lead laboratory operations in Ottumwa, IA. This role is responsible for overseeing all clinical laboratory functions, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the clinical laboratory
- Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of laboratory testing services
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality control programs
- Manage laboratory staff, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to support patient care
- Monitor budgets, resource allocation, and operational efficiency
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and ensure patient safety standards
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent
- Degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific discipline
- Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Experience in hospital or reference laboratory settings (preferred/strongly desired)
Nice-To-Have Qualifications
- Master's degree (MBA, MA/MS in scientific discipline preferred)
- Prior Director-level leadership experience
