We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Health Information Management (HIM) Director to lead and oversee health information operations in Los Alamos, NM. The ideal candidate will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of patient health records while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department
- Ensure accurate, complete, and secure patient health records
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA
- Develop and implement HIM policies, procedures, and best practices
- Lead audits and ensure data integrity and confidentiality
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and IT teams
- Train, mentor, and manage HIM staff
- Review staff performance and administer corrective actions when necessary
- Manage department budgets, reporting, and performance metrics
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Los Alamos within 45 days
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA)
Nice-To-Have Qualifications
- Prior experience in an acute care setting
- Experience in staff training, development, performance reviews, and corrective actions
