Light Duty TechnicianThe Light Duty Technician is responsible for performing entry-level vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards. This includes preventive maintenance such as oil and filter changes, rotating tires, inspecting brakes, performing fluid flushes, replacing light bulbs, mounting and balancing tires, replacing wiper blades and replacing batteries and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.The Light Duty Technician reports to the Shop Foreman/Service Manager.ResponsibilitiesReceive repair orders and take vehicle to designated stalls/work areasPerform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standardsCommunicate with parts department to obtain parts as neededInform Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promisedDocument work performed on each vehicle on the Repair OrderRoad test vehicles to quality check work performed as requiredWork in conjunction and/or in support of other technician(s) and/or the Service Manager/Shop ForemanOther duties and projects, as assignedSkills and QualificationsAt least 18 years of age with a valid Driver's License and a reasonably clean driving record that will be subject to reviewAbility to drive automatic and manual transmission vehiclesAbility to complete entry-level repairs in all aspects of the vehicle utilizing modern system diagnosticsAbility to work on a variety of vehicles, both newer and olderAbility to work well in a team environmentAbility to demonstrate thorough follow up and organizational skillsAbility to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the position and the dealershipSome technical educationA minimum of 1 year experience in an automotive dealership, preferredA High School Diploma or GED or currently in-process, preferredStrong attention to detailSense of urgencyExcellent communicationBasic computer skills (MS Office, Email, Internet)CompetenciesDoes the right thing, takes action and adapts to changeSelf-motivates, believes in accountability, focuses on results, makes plans and follows throughBelieves in humility, shares best practices, desires to keep learning, measures performance and adapts to improve resultsThrives on a team, stays positive, lives our valuesPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.Up to 2/3 of time: standing, walking, lifting up to 50 poundsUp to 2/3 of time: sitting, kneeling, reaching, talking, hearingReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.NOTE: This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of responsibilities, skills, or working conditions associated with the job.
