Description
We are looking for an experienced Technical Accounting Manager to join a facilities services organization on a contract basis in the Inland Empire. This role will focus on strengthening day-to-day accounting activities, bringing consistency to financial reporting, and helping the team address complex accounting questions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can quickly assess current practices, improve accuracy, and provide reliable support across core accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate aged or unusual items, and drive timely resolution of discrepancies.
Contribute to the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, supporting the general ledger, and producing monthly financial statements and internal reporting packages.
Perform a detailed review of accounting records, reporting practices, and control activities to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Map, document, and assess essential finance workflows such as order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and record-to-report to improve consistency and accountability.
Recommend and help implement practical enhancements to accounting procedures and internal controls that support more accurate and efficient operations.
Assist with sales and use tax activities, including reconciliations, reporting support, and preparation of required filings.
Research technical accounting issues and provide guidance that aligns with applicable U.S. accounting standards.
Analyze financial transactions and reporting outputs to improve data quality and support informed decision-making across accounting operations.
Work closely with finance and operational stakeholders to streamline processes, strengthen reporting accuracy, and improve overall department effectiveness.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including strong exposure to financial reporting and close activities.
Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting and solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Practical experience with Epicor or a comparable ERP system in an accounting environment.
Strong background in balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close.
Experience reviewing or supporting financial statement audits and documenting accounting processes and internal controls.
Working knowledge of sales and use tax compliance requirements.
Advanced Excel skills with the analytical ability to evaluate issues, interpret financial data, and recommend solutions.
