Position Summary
The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for end-to-end supply chain leadership, including inventory control, supply and demand planning, logistics coordination, warehousing, distribution, procurement, and customer service management.
This role owns both strategic design and daily execution of the supply chain function. The Director will develop long-term sourcing and network strategies while actively managing weekly supply and demand planning, service levels, inventory performance, and cost control. Success in this role requires strong analytical capability, operational excellence, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics, Warehousing & Distribution
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics, freight procurement, and carrier relationships.
- Ensure efficient warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, and shipping processes.
- Manage team of warehouse managers, supervisors, and material handlers.
- Optimize freight cost, on-time delivery performance, and distribution network efficiency.
- Oversee 3PL relationships where applicable.
Planning & Inventory Control
- Oversee supply and demand planning and materials requirements planning (MRP).
- Monitor inventory accuracy, turns, aging, and cycle counts; implement corrective actions as needed.
- Align production schedules with forecast and customer requirements to minimize back orders and excess stock.
- Lead weekly supply review and execution meetings to resolve constraints and adjust plans.
Customer Service Leadership
- Lead customer service operations to ensure high fill- rates, order accuracy, and timely communication.
- Develop service metrics and escalation processes to protect customer relationships.
- Partner with Sales to balance service expectations with operational realities.
Procurement
- Design sourcing strategies for ingredients and packaging, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and cost optimization.
- Establish supply and demand planning processes (S&OP) that align commercial forecasts with production capacity and inventory targets.
- Build inventory optimization models to balance working capital, service level, and spoilage/obsolescence risk.
- Implement systems, KPIs, and reporting dashboards that provide visibility across procurement, inventory, logistics, and customer service.
- Manage supplier performance through scorecards, service level agreements, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) – specifically DIO (days inventory outstanding) and DPO (days payable outstanding)
- ON TIME and IN FULL (OTIF)
- Indirect Labor Management (warehouse employees)
- Indirect Spend Management (warehouse budget)
- Safety (TRIR)
- Freight Costs vs. plan/budget
- Inventory Accuracy
- Purchase Price Variance (PPV)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience in manufacturing, food production, or CPG.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing procurement, planning, logistics, warehousing, and customer service functions.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, working capital, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Experience implementing or optimizing ERP/MRP systems.
- Proven ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
