About the Position
Absolute Dance is looking for a friendly, dependable, and organized Front Desk Receptionist to join our team.
Our front desk is the center of daily studio life. This person will welcome students and parents, answer questions, assist with registrations and customer accounts, help families purchase dancewear and shoes, and support the studio’s day-to-day operations.
This position is a great fit for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, communicates warmly and professionally, stays organized, and is comfortable working in an active environment with children and families.
Responsibilities
- Welcome students, parents, and visitors with a warm and professional presence
- Assist students and parents with questions about classes, schedules, registration, studio policies, events and general studio information
- Answer phone calls, emails, text messages and in-person questions
- Assist families with registration, enrollment, payments, customer accounts and account updates
- Help size students for dance shoes, leotards, tights and other dancewear
- Help families select merchandise and complete retail checkout transactions
- Maintain and organize dancewear, shoes, merchandise and retail inventory
- Communicate inventory and restocking needs to studio leadership
- Keep the front desk, retail area, lobby and common spaces organized and welcoming
- Communicate with instructors and leadership to help classes and daily operations run smoothly
- Assist with registration periods, studio events, performances and special projects
- Help resolve routine parent and student questions with patience and professionalism
- Look for ways to make the studio experience easier and more positive for families

Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred but not required:
- Customer service
- Retail sales or checkout
- Receptionist, front desk or administrative work
- Working with children and families
- Google Workspace, including Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Calendar
- Dance studios, performing arts, youth programs or other activity-based businesses
Knowledge of dance is helpful but not required. We are happy to teach the right person about studio operations, dancewear and shoe fittings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Reliable transportation
- Consistent afternoon and evening availability
- Ability to stand, walk, organize merchandise and assist customers throughout a shift
- Must successfully pass a background check
Schedule
This is a part-time position with a regular schedule of approximately 15–20 hours per week.
The core schedule includes:
- Three weekday afternoon or evening shifts each week
- Wednesdays from approximately 2:00–8:00 PM
- Two additional weekday afternoon or evening shifts
Applicants must be consistently available for all three regular shifts.
Employees may have the option to add up to approximately 10 additional hours per week through:
- Daytime administrative work
- Friday or Saturday shifts
- Registration and enrollment periods
- Studio events and performances
- Inventory projects
- Other special assignments
Additional hours are optional and may vary according to studio needs.
