What We Look For In a Photoshop Tutor

Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of Adobe Photoshop tools including layers, masks, selections, color correction, retouching, compositing, filters, brushes, typography, and file format management for print and digital output. Ability to explain non-destructive editing workflows, color modes, resolution settings, and advanced selection techniques while preparing students for photography, design, and digital media careers.
Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching image editing techniques, photo retouching, and digital compositing in Photoshop. Guides students through layer-based editing, creating and refining selections, applying adjustment layers, retouching portraits, compositing multiple images, and preparing files for various output formats. Emphasizes non-destructive workflow principles and connects Photoshop skills to photography, advertising, web design, and fine art applications.
Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with Photoshop curricula and common challenges such as understanding layers and masks, making precise selections, and managing file resolution for different outputs. Adapts instruction using step-by-step tutorials, project-based assignments, and real-world editing scenarios to support students from Photoshop beginners through advanced users developing professional image editing and digital compositing skills.
Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
