Today, Urban Umbrella is an urban design and media company best known for its premium white sidewalk scaffolding that has reimagined the streets of NYC and other metropolises. Our scaffolding has benefited commercial real estate owners, tenants, and their customers by reducing construction disruption, promoting pedestrian safety, and increasing commercial visibility. With nearly a decade of experience, our designs and the Urban Umbrella brand itself have reached far beyond construction, into premium events, outdoor media and a wide range of custom signage designs.
Role Overview
Urban Umbrella is seeking a creative and motivated person with a background in engineering, design, or architecture that is looking to make a change into the construction space. This role is rooted in design, but with an emphasis on operations and process. This role will work as a part of the design team, designing Urban Umbrella Scaffolding Projects and custom projects. This role will also work closely with both the Project Management and Sales Teams to assist in the delivery of projects, and in visual renders.
Key Responsibilities
● Assist in the design of Urban Umbrella sidewalk shed solutions.
● Create renderings to support both the sales and design processes.
● Supervise job sites as needed to ensure design and safety standards are met.
● Design projects based on Urban Umbrella’s safety and aesthetic parameters.
● Work with multiple departments to successfully design projects, manage rendering creation, and set your own schedule.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Architecture.
● Proficiency with any CAD software, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, SketchUp, or Rhino.
● Willingness to take on responsibilities both in the field and in the office.
● Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
● Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
● Interest in project management, construction operations, or urban design.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
● Proficiency in Rhino Modeling Software.
● Understanding of structural systems.
● Understanding of NYC sidewalk shed code.
● Bi-lingual (English & Spanish preferred)
