We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team and manage financial records, maintain accurate accounts, and ensure timely financial reporting across our global operations. As an accomplished Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in the organization's financial operations by monitoring financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and generating insightful reports. You will work closely with our Country Managers and their local accountants and Staff Accountants to create efficient bookkeeping and accounting processes, the Development Operations Team to ensure that income is recorded accurately and the Controller to implement standardized reporting mechanisms and ways of working.
The Staff Accountant will also play a critical role in managing the payroll and payment processes across our global operations, ensuring accurate and timely payments are made to our country offices, employees, contractors, consultants and vendors. They will oversee all aspects of payment processing (both local and international), including processing, maintaining records, resolving discrepancies, and implementing policies and procedures to improve efficiency.
Areas of Responsibility
Global Finance & Accounting
- Maintain and update financial records using accounting software or spreadsheets
- Process daily transactions including sales, purchases, payments, and receipts.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of financial data into the accounting software
- Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure balance accuracy between bank statements and records
- Monitor outstanding receivables and payables to ensure timely collection and payment processes
- Prepare timely financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other reports that NABU requires
- Analyze monthly financial reports and statements where required
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization to streamline financial processes and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Support with the External Financial Audit.
- Support with completion and submission of annual compliance and reporting documents to federal and state regulatory agencies
- Stay updated on relevant accounting principles, standards, regulations, and best practices.
Payroll & Payment Processing
- Manage payroll processing through ADP
- Manage vendor payments through the Accounting Software. Ensuring accurate and timely payments to vendors and independent contractors
- Review country cash flows and transfer funds to cover upcoming expenditures in each country
- Ensure accurate and timely calculation and processing of employee payments
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data files for payroll processing
- Implement strategies to streamline payroll and payment processes and improve efficiency
- Develop, maintain, and enforce company policies related to payroll processing.
- Oversee the year-end process for issuing W-2 forms to employees in the US, and support local accountants and Staff Accountants to
- Support our CM’s and Accountant/Staff Accountants globally through training, coaching and mentoring.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role
- You are proficient in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- You have In-depth knowledge of accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks), spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft Excel) for data analysis, budgeting and reporting purposes, ADP (or other leading payroll systems/software) and financial reporting systems. Additional familiarity with other relevant tools is a plus.
- Ability to analyze financial data accurately and identify discrepancies or errors promptly.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Extensive experience in managing end-to-end global payroll processes (benefits administration and employee onboarding/offboarding are a plus)
